Following the hunting season in Alberta, Forestry and Parks conducts annual Game Harvest Surveys to assess the hunting harvest by resident hunters.
Under Alberta’s Hunting Regulation, it is now mandatory to report harvest and effort on all special licences purchased through Alberta RELM or through the Alberta RELM app .
Hunters failing to submit harvest and effort survey results for 2023 special licences purchased will be subject to a $15 survey surcharge payable on their next wildlife certificate purchase.
Information from hunter harvest and effort surveys, aerial surveys, research, observation and public input are used to assess wildlife populations and help determine available hunting opportunities for the following hunting season.
